Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Last updated: September 2026 | Infrastructure security & integrity guidelines

1. Purpose and Philosophy

Sylense provides purpose-built infrastructure engineered exclusively for developer database workloads, transactional applications, and cloud services. This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) protects all users from malicious activity, resource monopolization, and legal hazards.

2. Prohibited Workloads and Activities

Database clusters, compute cores, and network allocations may not be used for any of the following activities under any circumstances:

  • Cryptocurrency Operations: Mining Bitcoin, Monero, or any digital currency, as well as running blockchain proof-of-work or proof-of-stake validation nodes.
  • Network Attacks: Originating, facilitating, or participating in Denial of Service (DoS/DDoS) attacks, SYN floods, or packet amplification exploits.
  • Port Scanning and Reconnaissance: Executing vulnerability scans, mass port probing, or brute-force access attempts against external networks or internal subnets.
  • Malware and Exploit Distribution: Storing, hosting, or distributing Trojan horses, spyware, ransomware, keyloggers, or cracking utilities.
  • Tor and Public Proxies: Operating Tor exit nodes, open proxy servers, VPN egress relays, or unauthorized tunneling endpoints.
  • Copyright Infringement: Storing or distributing pirated intellectual property, cracked software, or unauthorized commercial assets.

3. Fair Resource Utilization

Every plan provisioned on Sylense receives dedicated memory and vCPU allotments. However, deliberate exploitation of system architecture, such as fork-bomb scripts, malicious memory exhaustion designed to crash host nodes, or unauthorized hypervisor escape attempts, will result in immediate cluster isolation.

4. Security Responsibilities

Developers and administrators are responsible for the security of their database credentials. This includes maintaining strong master passwords, managing IP firewall allowlists, avoiding embedding raw passwords in public client-side repositories, and rotating credentials periodically.

5. Enforcement and Account Actions

Violations of this AUP result in progressive disciplinary action:

  • Notice & Remediation: For unintentional misconfigurations (such as runaway recursive queries), our operations team contacts the registered account holder to apply query optimizations.
  • Temporary Suspension: Clusters originating network attacks or severe resource degradation are temporarily suspended to protect neighbor workloads.
  • Immediate Termination: Severe malicious activities, illegal data hosting, or repeated violations result in immediate cluster termination without refund.
